The Real World

Peace aerial campus

By Capers Middleton

It’s hard to believe that only one week ago the Triangle area had a massive snow storm, and yet we are only a few weeks away from graduation.

With thousands of graduates about to enter the job market, it’s time to take pause and ask ourselves, are we ready to face life from beyond the campus walls?

Many of us will leave shortly with newly minted job offers currently in hand.

Many will take a job temporarily in any field just to have a job until the economy improves and enhances our chances of entering the field of our choice.

Many will also go to graduate school as it seems like the next logical choice.

But is it smart to immediately enter graduate school without at least a few years experience?

From the experts in job placement and career services that I have talked to the job market is still weak right now.

Should we be worried, or is this the same problem every graduate faces upon the thought of reality?

What are your thoughts?
