The William Peace University men’s soccer team trotted out for their final game of the season, this time
on the road against Averett University.
The Pacers (3-13, 1-9 USAS) did a better job getting shots on goal this time around, with 13 total shots. Their aggression paid off early, as Kevin Amaya gave the Pacers a 1-0 lead on a goal less than two minutes in the game. The goal came off a throw in from the Pacers’ Phillip Peaden. From there on out, the outlook was grim for WPU.
Averett (6-10-1, 4-5-1 USAS) would go on to score four unanswered goals to put the game out of reach. Jordan Palma scored the first goal for Averett in the 12th minute. The Cougars’ Nathan Brown scored the next goal unassisted in the 40th minute. Brown would score again, this time with a little help from Justin Lloyd on the assist in the 45th minute. The score was 3-1 Averett at the half. Tobias Andreasson joined in on the scoring to finish things off with a goal in the 75th minute assisted by Justin Lloyd.
The Pacers had most of their shots on goal in the second half, but couldn’t turn any of them into goals. The Pacers wrap up their season with a loss to the Averett Cougars on a final score of 4-1.
