Some William Peace University students will get a quick break and a chance to mingle this weekend on a whirlwind trip to Florida.
The WPU Student Services Office is hosting its third annual whirlwind trip to Orlando Feb. 12-14. Students have signed up online and can choose to attend Disney’s Magic Kingdom or Universal Studios.

The trip costs $200 for each person. This includes transportation to and from Florida, as well as the ticket into the park of their choice. Each student who signs up is allowed to bring three guests.

“February is the only month in the spring semester where there is no break for students, and it will be warm and wonderful in Florida.”

This trip is something the university uses to break up the semester since there are no long breaks between winter and spring breaks.

WPU students and faculty who are participating in the trip will depart from Peace around 8 p.m. this Friday night, arrive in Florida around 7 a.m. Saturday morning, and have 12 hours in the park of their choosing.

“I had a great time on this trip last February,” says Trevor Breedlove, an NC State student who went as a guest on the trip last winter. “It was really good getting to know other students and hang out with them at Disney.”

The weekend Florida trip is also a way for students to spend time together and get to know each other outside of a classroom environment. Students who are going on the trip this weekend are very excited and are hoping for warm temperatures and sunshine in Orlando.
