This past weekend was Raleigh’s annual International Festival at at the Raleigh Convention Center. The International Festival was a three-day event and included 50+ cultures and various activities that included dance, music, cooking, and learning.
The festival was a huge component to bring cultures and 30,000 people together right here in the triangle. The main attractions were the international food, cultural exhibits, crafts, and interactive lessons.
“The mesh of different cultures is amazing,” said William Peace University student, sophomore Treace Harris. “One moment you can be at the Korean tent and the next at the Irish tent. It’s a great go to, and broaden your horizons.”
The various cultures brought people together and many looked at the International Festival as a way to learn about other cultures in a much more fun way.
“There’s something there for everyone. Whether you are interested in the dancing or the craft classes, there is always something to do,” said WPU sophomore, Samuel Hardison.
“I am really excited about this year. I love getting off campus and doing something fun occasionally,” said Harris.
This was a great event to go to that gave people an appreciation of other cultures and also allowed other cultures to broaden horizons. Events such as these are close to campus and are a great way to get to know the Raleigh community while having a better understanding of the world outside of WPU.
