What should I do on May 4th?

By Mattias Gariepy

May the 4th is around the corner soon, with Star Wars fans around the world celebrating and preparing for the event. And what’s nice about May 4th is being able to celebrate Star Wars day at your own home.

People can enjoy a variety of movies and TV shows, listen to exciting stories, craft fan-favorite characters, cook star wars food, and so much more. I am going to recommend three activities people should consider doing during May 4th for anybody who wishes to celebrate while at home.

Watch Star Wars movies and TV series on Disney+: With Disney owning LucasFilms now, all of the Star Wars movies and TV shows ever created can be watched through Disney+ for those that are members.

There are a total of eleven movies, with nine being based on the Skywalker saga and two focus on side stories that connect to the trilogy, and about twelve or more TV series. Some of the TV series are old while others are recent, with some not coming out until 2022 (Ex: The Book of Boba Fett and Obi-Wan Kenobi)

One of the greatest TV shows of all time for any old or new Star Wars fans though is “Star Wars the Clone Wars”. It has seven seasons total, and they are planning to make a sequel/spin-off called “Star Wars: The Bad Batch” on May 4th, 2021.

It helps explain the backstory of what happened during the events of “Star Wars: Episode II Attack of the Clones” and “Star Wars: Episode III Revenge of the Sith”. While also giving an expanded picture of Anakin’s legacy throughout the Clone Wars universe, all the way to the end of the Clone Wars. The TV series helps us with our understanding of Anakin’s reason for what he did becoming richer.

Not only does it provide information about major characters and events, but it also focuses on the Clones themselves and how they carried the republic in different ways during the war. Here’s a list for those who wish to watch it in chronological order: Star Wars: The Clone Wars Chronological Episode Order | StarWars.com

Blue Milk Pudding (A Tatooine Treat): These little treats are easy to make with items you have in your pantry, and will be done in 2-3 minutes! You don’t have to use Coconut if you dislike it as I do, so feel free to add another ingredient or leave it out.

Ingredients:

2 cups whole milk

½ cup powdered sugar

3 tablespoons cornstarch

⅛ teaspoon cinnamon

Pinch of salt

1-½ teaspoons vanilla

Blue food dye gel

Whipped cream

Shredded coconut

Step 1: In a saucepan stir together the milk, powdered sugar, cornstarch, cinnamon, and salt.

Step 2: Turn heat to medium-low, stir in vanilla and one drop of blue food dye gel.

Step 3: Simmer for 3-4 minutes, whisking until thickened.

Step 4: Spoon into cups, place a layer of plastic wrap directly onto the surface, and chill in the refrigerator.

Step 5: Top with whipped cream, coconut, and a dash of cinnamon, to serve.

And that’s it! I plan to try and create it for this upcoming May 4th and can’t wait to try it. Those who wish to try other recipes can do so through Star Wars Recipes | StarWars.com

Listen to Star Wars stories: Stories of the Star Wars universe is famous around YouTube, with one example being “Star Wars Theory”. These stories are told by fans of Star Wars and can help anyone, new or old fans, understand the lore and history of the Star Wars universe/galaxy.

For “Star Wars Theory”, each video released is released focusing on different characters instead of the main ones every time. With some stories tying to a famous character in the Star Wars universe. For example, Darth Vader only friend during the empire rule.

Not only are fans telling stories about the Star Wars universe, but favorite movie characters from the Star Wars saga are reading them as well.

Joonas Suotamo (Chewbacca), Anthony Daniels (C-3PO), Ashley Eckstein (Ahsoka Tano), Daisy Ridley (Rey Skywalker), and many others are reading Star Wars picture books and tales to fans virtually through YouTube as well.

Those who have younger siblings and/or relatives can enjoy these picture books for free while listening to their favorite Star Wars characters. Anyone can find them by searching “Disney storytime Star Wars” through YouTube.

Each of these activities is classic in its own unique way, with each one being for different types of people. During these difficult times, there is nothing better than enjoying Star Wars to take your mind off of things. People who wish to learn more about things they can do can go to https://www.starwars.com/star-wars-day. So, grab your favorite Star Wars activity, and MAY THE 4th BE WITH YOU!
