Players named South Athlete of the week and strong season for Women’s Volleyball

WPU Women’s Volleyball is off to a great start this season, holding the second place position in the USA South Athletic Conference with a record of 18-5 and 8-1 in Conference play.

They have won eleven games by completely shutting out their opponents, sweeping the three sets at 3:0

Many players have been acknowledged nationally for their performance this season. Four players have earned the USA South Volleyball player of the week:

Mackenzie Russell: Senior Exercise and Sports Science.
Hannah Collier: Junior Exercise and Sports Science.
Georgia Grace Anderson: Sophomore Elementary Education.
Logan Moore: Senior Psychology 

The Pacers hosted their neighbor Meredith College on Oct. 4. . It was a hard-fought match. . The first set was won 25 to 23 by the Pacers.

Meredith would take the second set 25 to 19. The next two sets were won by the pacers 25 to 16 and 25 to 15. Hannah Collier and Shelby Cooper both had 14 kills, while Mackenzie Russell supplied 43 assists. This win keeps WPU undefeated in the USA South Conference.

The team’s next matchup is against Conference foe South Virginia and could very well be the battle for first place in the USA South.
