The William Peace University volleyball team is gearing up for another season filled with energy, competition, and high expectations. With returning players, fresh new talent, and the momentum from last year’s performance, the Pacers are ready to make their mark on the court.
The 2025 Pacers have delivered high level action to this point, sporting a 3-1 record starting the season off. The early success has energized players, coaches, and Pacer fans alike.
“I’m excited to see where the season takes us,” said AJ Townsend. “We have a lot of new blood on the team who have already made a huge difference with our team”.
The team will be led by key returners like Tameka Adams and Maegan Brylski, who bring both experience and leadership to the roster. Alongside them, first-year players are expected to step up and contribute, adding depth and energy to the lineup.
For the seniors, this year represents a chance to leave their mark on the program and set the standard for future Pacers teams.
The USA South is shaping up to be competitive again this year, and the Pacers know they’ll need to bring their best against familiar rivals.
“Coach Marshall and Coach Logan have made it their goal to make this season a joy-filled season, and with the track we on they are doing an incredible job,” said Townsend.
The Pacers kicked things off with a commanding performance against Roanoke College, sweeping the match in three straight sets. Freshman Aaliyah Anderson made an immediate impact with 13 kills.
Aubrey Chesson added eight kills, while setter Maegan Brylski distributed 27 assists, added four service aces, and racked up 15 digs. Defensively, Gracie Payne was a brick wall with 22 digs.
Caitlin Bailey led the offense with eight kills, and Brylski contributed six kills, 22 assists, and 13 digs. Notably, Brylski hit a milestone surpassing 2,000 career assists with a new total of 2,036.
WPU turned in dominant performances on Day Two. First, they swept Bob Jones University. Bailey once again anchored the offense with 11 kills.
Chesson added 10 kills and nine digs, while Anderson chipped in nine kills and two blocks. Brylski orchestrated the attack with 31 assists and added 11 digs.
They followed that up by sweeping host Averett University, sealing the tournament with a 3–1 overall record.
“We started the season strong with a 3-1 record at our first tournament and with our trip to Pennsylvania soon I believe the chemistry will only grow stronger,” said Townsend.
The team has built strong chemistry off the court as well, with team bonding events and workouts that have translated into trust and cohesion during matches.
With the Cougar Classic in the rearview, attention turns to home turf. The Pacers return to Raleigh for a pair of home matches that took place on September 5, facing Gordon College at 5:00 p.m., followed by Virginia Wesleyan at 7:00 p.m.
