It’s the start of another academic year for athletics here at William Peace University as we are hitting the first week of fall games for most teams.

Sept. 1 marks the start of the season for Pacers volleyball as they take on Hollins University in the Herman Gymnasium at 5 p.m.

“I’m really excited about this season and especially excited about how young this team still is and how much room we have to grow,” said Coach Bryant. “We have a great mix of returning players who understand our program and new pieces who bring different strengths and perspectives to the team.”

Bryant said the players have been willing to buy into the new standards she has laid out for the season. She is prepared for what this team has in store.

“I’m looking forward to seeing how we continue to pursue growth, build chemistry and challenge ourselves throughout the season,” said Coach Bryant. “This group has a lot of potential, and success will follow if we stay committed to the process.”

There is a lot of excitement surrounding our volleyball program, especially with the new addition of Coach Logan Bryant.

“During her time as a player at Peace, Coach Bryant was a tremendous leader on the court,” Athletic Director Claude Shields said. “She knows what it takes to develop young women on and off the court. We are excited to watch her put her stamp on the program and get us back to competing at the top level of the USA South year in and year out.”

Not only is the athletic staff excited, but the buzz in the locker room is special as well.

“The whole team, including myself, is more than excited for Coach Logan to be leading us through this season,” said senior Anna Smith. “Last year we learned how much of a committed, caring, and determined coach she is. She gives 100% effort to every practice, drill, game, and meeting, and we are continuing to see her passion shine through coaching us this year. I am so excited to see what the rest of the season brings.”

Men’s soccer is led by returning coach Ryan Huber, and women’s soccer is led by returning coach Becky Scroger. Men’s Golf is led by first-year coach Derrick Disch; women’s golf is led by coach Cedric Wilkerson; men’s tennis is led by coach Donolique Tyrell; and men’s and women’s Cross Country are led by coach Cameron Davis.
