On October 12, 2012 Gamma Sigma Sigma will host a Dance-a-thon like no other.
The charity event will run for 12 hours, from 8 p.m. to 8 a.m. at Belk Dining Hall. Not only will there be dancing and a DJ, but there will also be a costume contest, photo booth, face painting, corn hole and a doughnut bob. Participants are encouraged to raise money for their dancing efforts, which will go to the American Cancer Society.
“This is our second year for Dance-a-thon,” said Jessica Lytle, Gamma Sigma Sigma president. “We had low attendance last year and are hoping to have a bigger turnout this year.”
Prizes will be handed out for the three people who dance the longest. Since the theme is Halloween, it is recommended that you wear a costume, but it is not required. Prizes will also be awarded for the best and the most creative costume.
Organizers say the event is a fun way to raise money to fight cancer. “We couldn’t be more excited for such a great cause that is so close to our hearts,” said Lytle.
