Peace College has always hosted the annual Fall Cocktail, but this will be the first year that William Peace University will host the event now that the school is co-ed.
Although most women at Peace College have always brought their dates to the dance, this will be the first year that the men of William Peace University will also be bringing their dates.
Many male students say they plan on attending the Fall Cocktail. Aaron Mull, a freshman at WPU said, “I’m going to the Fall Cocktail with a group of friends, but I’m not going with a date.”
Organizers say the event is not all about having a date, it’s really about getting the opportunity to dress up and go with good friends to dance and eat and have a good time.
While this will be a change for the former Peace College students, Taylor Murray, a junior at WPU, who attended previous Fall Cocktails, will also be attending this year. “Although it may be different in some aspects this year, it’s still all about having fun with friends and I am looking forward to it,” she said.
Josie Carmona, President of Campus Activity Board, said, “I am really excited to see the turn out of both guys and girls this year, but it has definitely been difficult to remember to incorporate male aspects into this event.”
Although many traditions at Peace College have changed now that it has become a WPU, organizers say the Fall Cocktail will continue to be an annual tradition that this school will hold onto.
