The WPU Women’s Soccer team played the Maryville College Scotts on September 20 at WakeMed Soccer Park. Maryville is a Division II team, and one of Peace’s rivalry teams.
In the first quarter, the Pacers showed strong defense and the Scotts did not score until 7:00 left of the 45:00 quarter. In the second, the Scotts scored again with 31:50 left in the quarter. The third goal came with 21:21 minutes left. Then with six minutes left in the game, the Scotts scored a fourth goal. The final score was 5-0.
After being crushed by Maryville 12-1 last year, the WPU was expecting to lose this game. However, the Pacers played strong defense and stood their ground, showing a marked improvement from last year.
