Pioneers of William Peace Tennis

Raleigh, N.C. – On December 19th, 2013 William Peace University announced that they would be bringing Men’s Tennis to campus, it is set to begin in the fall of 2014. The team will be coached by Jeron Baker, who is also the women’s coach.
Patrick Ralph, a freshman on the team could not hold back his excitement when asked about this upcoming season, “I’m very excited for our season.  We have great players that give their full effort in practice. It’s motivation like that that keeps me excited for our season.”  During the off-season Patrick was the number one seed, which is the top player on the team.
Ralph also commented on the fact that he will be a part of the first ever Men’s Tennis team, “Starting a program is never easy, but it’s an opportunity to begin a tradition of hard work and excellence.”
The team consists of two freshman, four sophomores, and a junior, which in the sports world, is considered a very young team. “This season’s not going to be the easiest.  We’re going up against more developed programs, but we won’t let that get us down.  Everyone crawls before they walk,” says Ralph.
The team is set to have its first ever match on Saturday February 28, 2015 against Hampton-Sydney. The first home match is scheduled for March 7, 2015 against Huntingdon.
