WPU Softball takes on Salem

February the 14th is a day known as Valentine’s Day but this year it means something totally different for the William Peace Softball team. This Valentine’s Day the Lady Pacers are focused on one thing and that’s their opening day double header against Salem University.
With only losing one senior last year the team has high hopes for this season, although, with only 13 players, it is one of the smallest softball teams in Peace history. “We are excited for this season,” says senior first baseman Casey Taylor.  “With a smaller team we can get to know each other better and have better team chemistry,” said Taylor.
With only one freshman on the team, the entire team is more experienced and knows what to expect when it comes to playing college level softball. “It is a big jump going from the high school level to the college level,” says senior pitcher Heather Dindigger, “I think that with the experience we have on this team we will have one of our best seasons yet.”
WPU faces Salem University this Saturday at the Raleigh field. The first pitch is at 2:00pm with another game following at 4:00pm. For more information go to http://www.gopeacepacers.org/landing/index.
