5 Tips for Staying Healthy this Fall

Fall is finally upon us and, although it is exciting for most, some dread the hot to cool weather transition. Many people, especially college students, fall into the trap of the transitioning weather causing them to become sick. Luckily I am here to say there are some simple and great tips that you can use this fall to ensure that the weather won’t get the best of you!
Get plenty of rest. Personally what I like to do to make sure I am staying healthy this season is to ensure I’m getting enough rest. I know this sometimes isn’t the easiest option for us college students but if you are able to sneak in a 15-20 minute nap this can be unbelievably beneficial for health.  Plus who doesn’t like a quick power nap every now and then?
Stay hydrated. Make sure you are doing what you need to do to make sure your immune system is up to par. This means drinking enough fluids (preferably water). Also eating things that are full of the nutrition and vitamins that your body needs is extremely beneficial.
Dressing appropriately. This one speaks for itself. The warmer you are, the better off you are.
Wash your hands, always. Whenever you use the bathroom or handle objects that are not sanitary wash your hands immediately afterwards. Statistics show that 15% of men and 7% of women do not wash their hands, so don’t be a statistic!
Buy food that is in season. This is mostly vegetables like broccoli, carrots, squash, and cauliflower. Yes, being healthy can sometimes be expensive. Luckily here in Raleigh there are farmer’s markets everywhere to find vegetables that are reasonably priced, and other affordable and healthy buys, even for college students on a strict budget.
