The Pacers’ softball team, which was picked to be second overall in their conference at the beginning of the year, have had more ups than downs this season as they look to bring home a conference title.

The Pacers are set to tackle the conference tournament this weekend in Rocky Mount, starting with a game against Piedmont College on Friday, April 15.

“We have the team to win this tournament for sure,” said Brittany Propri, a junior on the team. “We just need to play together have timely hitting, and put in good innings on the mound to be successful.”

The Pacers finished off the regular season play with a 23 win and 17 loss season overall, including 12 wins and 10 losses in conference. The team has a solid lineup led by Kelsey Durham, Morgan Farmer, and Kimberly Cook.

The team has put together a .334 batting average as a team, and have come together to put 40 balls over the fence for home runs this season.

They have relied their hitting, and now lead Division 3 softball in the home run category, with Propri hitting 11 home runs and Lindsay Wiggins hitting 10.

“We have worked very hard this season to be in this tournament and we believe if we play the way we know we can, we can win this tournament,” Propri said.
