What is Gamma Sigma Sigma?

Many people around campus do not know what exactly Gamma Sigma Sigma incorporated is, though many know of the basic sororities at other schools around Peace, such as Alpha Kappa Alpha (AKA), Alpha Pi Omega and plenty more.
But GSS is different. It is a national service sorority that was founded on Oct. 12, 1952 in New York City. The purpose of GSS is to show the spirit of service to humanity while also developing friendships among students of all races. William Peace University is lucky to have their own chapter of GSS which is the Eta Sigma Chapter.
“Gamma Sigma Sigma is my sisterhood,” said Ma’Kayla, class of 2020, who joined in the fall of 2016. “It’s the place I go not only to support my community but also to make everlasting friendships. I can always count on my sisters to be there if I need them.”
GSS is best known for their famous Lemonade Stand, helping with Love Your Body Week with Nicole Davis, as well as the Relay For Life at NC State on April 7.
The Eta Sigma Chapter has many more service events planned for the upcoming weeks to spice things up on campus, including inducting new members, as well as the election for new board members for the next semester.
Sisters have been seen around campus during certain events as in the Love Your Body Fashion Show, Positivity painting on the second floor, candle light yoga or even at the 90s party just recently. They are changing many different things within the sorority and adding new traditions to help make the sister’s bond bigger and better.
