William Peace University Theatre closes its season with “Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat” April 20-23.

“It’s a fantastic energetic show with a classic story that takes you back to childhood,” said Delphon Lavon Curtis Jr., a WPU senior who is starring as Pharaoh in the production.
This is a family friendly show, the biblical story of a dreamer who is highly favored by his father. His father gives him an amazing technicolor coat, and his jealous brothers sell him into slavery. But he steadily overcomes every obstacle he is presented with.

“It truly seems that this show tells us the folly of being vengeful, persistence in the face of adversity, but most importantly that there are dreamers whose dreams could come true,” said Curtis.
This show covers more genres of music than any show WPU theater students have ever done.

The show has eigh seniors performing their final production, and six freshmen whose first production at Peace is this show.

“The actors all have such vibrant personalities and their voices on the Andrew Lloyd Webber score show their versatility and passion,” said Curtis.

The Theatre is hoping to spark more interest in further productions once students see the quality of the work the students of the university put together.

Curtis has been part of 16 productions with the university including the 24-hour Shakespearathon last year. He couldn’t be more humbled to share the stage with the other students for his final production at Peace.

If you are not familiar with the show, there’s a fun surprise that will have you all shook up. The production is roughly an hour and forty-five minutes.

Look forward to a wholesome good time, the fantastic choreography by Eboni Miles and Amy White, along with the magnificent power vocals that Rosemary Richards and Jarrett Bennett bring to this piece of theatre.

“The show is filled with many warm and electric hearts that will leave you smiling and humming some of the tunes even after you see it,” said Curtis.
