For many, Halloween is their favorite holiday of the year, and for others it is not.
Halloween is the ONE day a year that you can dress up as anything you want, not get judged or weird looks. On any other day, it is not as acceptable.
As costumes ideas continue to change from year to year, some remain the same. Such as a hippie, a cat, and even a classic witch.
“This Halloween, I’m dressing up as a black cat, mostly because it is easy! And black is my favorite color. It’s definitely my “go to” costume,” said Catie Valletta.
This year, many are dressing up as characters from their favorite TV shows and movies. Now, there is no way to know exactly what people will dress up as until the actual holiday night, but their search history give us a pretty good idea of what people are leaning towards.

The most searched costume of Halloween 2017 is Pennywise the Clown, from the new re-made horror movie IT. According to Forbes Magazine, IT made $123.1 million dollars over the opening weekend. Since the re-make just hit theaters a couple weeks ago, it has made many fans envious of the scary, intimidating look. This bringing back the childhood fear that is, IT.
“This Halloween, sadly I have to work. But I am very excited to see what people are dressed up as. I am hoping to see a few Pennywise the Clown costumes,” said Ryan McCann.
Another very popular searched costume is the characters from the Netflix Original show, Stranger Things. This popular show is suspenseful and creepy, and has gained many fans since it first came out last year. Also, since the show has many characters, there are many to chose from.
Another popular costume for this year, is characters from the HBO hit show, Game of Thrones. Like Stranger Things, this show also has a lot of characters to choose from. According to Deadline.com, 10.1 million people tuned in for the Season 7 premiere over this past summer. With so many seasons, there are A TON of big fans out there!
“I am planning to dress up as a character from Game of Thrones. It is one of my favorite shows, so I think it would be a good costume and fun to put all together. We will see if it works out…,” said Lauren Reeves.
Throughout the year, many box-winning movies have come out in the theaters, so obviously many people are looking for costume inspiration. Other popular costume searches have been Wonder Woman, a Baywatch Babe, and Belle from the Disney classic, Beauty and The Beast.
And last but not least, another popular searched costume for this Halloween is…. A giraffe?! Now this is random, but who doesn’t like giraffes?!
