The Peace Talks podcast is holding a live event that is open to all Peace students, faculty and staff on Monday, Nov. 19 at 3:30 p.m. in Flowe 110.
Peace Talks is a podcast led by members of the The Peace Times, the school newspaper, to talk about different events happening on campus and discuss topics and issues of interest to the Peace community.
During the Peace Talks Live! event, they will talk about events on campus and open the floor to the audience to discuss different ideas or topics. There will be snacks, prizes, and the chance to participate in the podcast and meet with the students who create it.
The podcast covers a variety of subjects, including news on campus, upcoming sports events and fun fluff topics, as well as bigger issues or controversies happening outside of Peace. Some of these topics have included Bill Cosby going to jail, voting, Trump and Kanye, protests in the NFL.
Alex Garrison, one of the hosts of the podcast, encourages members of the Peace community to attend the event.
“If you want us to speak on a certain topic, it’s a good time to come,” says Garrison.
Peace Talks started when a group of members of The Peace Times went to a convention last year and were looking for feedback on how to better improve the newspaper. One of the suggestions that they got was to start a podcast on campus.
If you are interested in being a part of Peace Talks, the podcast is always looking for more members to join the team. The podcast is part of the The Peace Times, which is a one-credit class that meets every Monday from 1:00-1:50 p.m. every semester. Contact Marti Maguire at mamaguire@peace.edu for details.
