The Peace Talks podcast hosted a special live podcast event from the Hip-Hop Symposium on April 4, on the second floor of Belk.

The Hip-Hop and Higher Ed Symposium is taking place on April 4-5 on campus, and will explore topics like how hip-hop engages with art, politics, sexual identity, and race. It will also highlight how social responsibility and activism can be inspired through hip-hop.

Hip-Hop and Higher Ed is a partner of the Dreamville Fest happening just a few blocks away from campus. Guest speakers, including Dr. Marc Lamont Hill, will participate in discussions and other events. Hill is an award winning journalist and a former host of BET News. Hill holds a Ph.D. from the University of Pennsylvania. His research focuses on intersections between culture, politics, and education in the United States and Middle East.

Peace Talks is a part of The Peace Times. The hosts cover a wide range of topics including pop culture, music, movie reviews, and events happening on campus and in the community. This semester, the student team has added interviews, in-depth discussions of sports and a pop culture segment to Peace Talks, as well as a second show, Peace Pop.  The show also features a review of Peace news and sports, as well as discussions of hot topics on campus and beyond.
