Pacers ended Welcome Week on Aug. 23 drenched in neon paint and drained from dancing the night away in the Aux gym, thanks to “PAINTU: The Ultimate Campus Party,” hosted by the Campus Activities Board (CAB).
Although it was originally planned for outdoors, the wind and rain didn’t stop Pacers from showing up and killing it on the dance floor. The event included students getting the opportunity to spray their friends and fellow Pacers with all different colored neon paint in sync with all different types of music.
In attendance there were many campus orientation leaders, student government members, resident assistants, athletes, students, staff, faculty, and even a few alumni. Everyone was thrilled and surprised to see even Miss North Carolina, Alexandra Badgett, in attendance. She was seen enjoying the free food, music, and fun at this years PAINTU party with the rest of the attendees.
“PaintU was an electric event…and I had such a blast with my friends just letting loose after the first week of classes,” said Peace sophomore, Emily Freer.
Miss North Carolina, who is from Denver, NC, did not participate in the events of getting sprayed by paint, but did stop by to enjoy some free campus swag along with pizza, drinks, great music, and great company. She was even sweet enough to take photos and answer questions from some of our students who were big fans and voted for her to win the title of Miss North Carolina this summer.
“I had the opportunity to meet Miss North Carolina and she gave me some good advice as well as some motivation for this academic year,” said Samara Demary, Peace sophomore.
Miss North Carolina, whose platform is No is Not Enough, is a role model to not only girls and women, but also men, and it was an honor to have her on campus engaging in the celebration of the end of Welcome Week 2019.
“Our PaintU party was fantastic,” said Michael Mchale, a senior, as well as the Community Service Chair of CAB. “It’s fun to come out and party with your fellow pacers on campus. There is always good music, good fun, and good food.”
